After the conclusion of the 2017-2018 football season, several teams experienced a change in their coaching staffs. Some coaches, like Bruce Arians of the Cardinals, retired. Others, like John Fox of the Chicago Bears, were been fired from their teams. When a team’s head coach gets fired, everyone on that coaching staff is fired. This means teams have to hire completely new coaches for certain positions. For example, the Bears plan to hire a new offensive of coordinator and a new quarterback coach, too. From recent events, nineteen coaches have been fired in the NFL, they go from the running backs coach, to the special teams coordinator and so on.

One reason why coaches get fired is because of their win/loss record. Team owners want their teams to be at the top of the power rankings. Coaches like Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots or John Harbaugh of the Baltimore Ravens keep their jobs because of how well their teams play up to expectations. Team owners want their team in the Super Bowl, and they look very hard for a coaching staff to get the team there. Sometimes, along the way, teams must get rid of people who is not helping them or in the words of Marc Klatt, “We need to get rid of all the trash.” Another reason why coaches get fired is if they miss the NFL Playoffs many times. This year coaches were mostly fired because of win/loss record or just dumb decisions. The Giants fired their coach Ben McAdoo this season after trying to bench Eli Manning for the first time in his career. Eli Manning is the franchise quarterback and he owners did not like that decision.

Hopefully, during the next football season, the new coaches will lead their team to a winning season.
