Of all the five senses, human sense of smell is the most receptive. It is strongly connected with the areas of the brain that process memory, meaning that even the smallest whiff of a familiar scent can allow the brain to recall a forgotten experience. Since ancient times and practices, many have used this powerful connection to relax their brains with calming smells. Incense is usually used in most meditation, yoga practices, or to cleanse the air. Particular incense is burned to connect to certain areas. When frankincense is burned, it supports anti-depressive behaviors. It has also been known to heighten the spiritual level of religious and cultural ceremonies.

Their powerful but accurate aromas have proved to be more effective than scented candles. After ten minutes of burning a candle, the fragrance still has not spread from the confining jar. Incense fill a room with their wispy smoke and aroma immediately. Neither are particularly good for our health. If the wick contains metal, it may be lead. Both incense and candles affect air quality as they burn, releasing embers into the air. When inhaled, it may cause irritation that will worsen allergy and asthma symptoms.

Incense tends to be messy because of the ashes, but soot is collected on the edges of a candles and stains hands or possibly clothes. There is no way to stop soot from collecting on candles, but there is one for the ashes when using incense. There are many marvelous incense holders, from smoking trees to simple planks of wood. The holders help create a more aesthetically pleasing area than clunky candles.

Incense is overall much better than candles. Since it is inexpensive, portable, and fits many aesthetics, there is no need for an argument.
