Mary’s At Falls Cottage: Dining With a View
March 13, 2018
Falls Park is a popular location in Greenville, SC. Not only is it beautiful, it is also in the midst of downtown, which is filled with numerous restaurants, shops, and tourist attractions. A hidden gem of this city is Mary’s at Falls Cottage. This historic cottage was built in 1838 and used to be the mill owners home. Throughout the years it has been a gas station, a tailors shop, a cobbler shop, and today it is a restaurant.
This location is the perfect place to eat with friends or family. Brunch is served on the weekends and lunch is served on the weekdays. They are closed on Mondays. All are welcome to come from ten to two on the weekends and from eleven to two on the weekdays.
Mary’s offers an incomparable view of Falls Park. The deck is a very popular seating choice. Senior Garrett Clark said, “Whenever I eat here, I always ask to sit on the deck. I love to people watch and there is always something going on in the park.” There are also seats in the garden that immerse the customer in nature, surrounding them with flowers, trees, and the occasional bird. Indoor seating is also available. While this choice offers less of the downtown experience, the customer is able to learn about the history of the cottage and view the original fireplace. Music from the era this house was built in can be heard all throughout the restaurant, bringing more life to this house.
Not only is the atmosphere like none other, the food is outstanding. The lunch menu is a variety of soups, salads, and sandwiches all ranging from $5-$12. The most popular item is the Fountain Inn Salad. The brunch menu offers several southern meals, as well as waffles and eggs. The shrimp and grits is the most popular item. All of the items are made from recipes created by the owner Mary Jones. For those looking for an admirable place to fill their appetite, Mary’s is the place.
