Dear bad texters,

Cell phones have made lots of progress in the past few years. As a society, we have moved on from flip phones and Nokias to bigger and better devices. We said goodbye to tiny screens and keyboards. We also said goodbye to talking on the phone: why talk when you can text? Texting is a quicker and easier way to communicate with someone. That is until we try to text one of you- a bad texter. You should have the hang of texting by now. Everyone is tired of the one-word responses, horrible grammar, and delayed answers.

There is no excuse for this madness. Texting is as simple as it gets. Smartphones now display a whole keyboard, so you don’t have to click the seven button four times to get a capital ‘S’. There is no more squinting to see your one-word response. The screens are clear and easy to read. Watch the grammar and spelling. Use the correct version of “you’re” when you have to. Don’t make us call you out.

What happens when you don’t text us back? We start thinking of crazy scenarios as to why our notifications are empty. “Maybe they’re cutting the grass.” “Maybe their crazy Aunt Suzie is making them watch all eight Harry Potter movies.” Your lack of communication drives us crazy. How hard is it to type a few words so we don’t have a mental breakdown?

Sincerely,

Someone who is tired of your typos and excuses

P.S. Voice-to- text is not effective. At all. Voice-to-text just leaves us more confused.
