Tired of Downtown Greenville?
April 24, 2018
Greenville is a rapidly growing city with many places to go. While there is a lot to do downtown, many residents are starting to feel like it is becoming too crowded and they have resorted to going other places in Greenville.
For those who like to exercise, Paris Mountain State Park, Conestee Nature Park, and The Swamp Rabbit Trail are excellent places to go. While parts of the Swamp Rabbit Trail run through downtown, it also extends as far as Traveler’s Rest, so there is plenty of new scenery. This is a great location to bike, run, or even walk with friends or family. For those who end up on the Traveler’s Rest side of the trail, it is close to many shops and restaurants. Senior Bonnie Campbell said, “Sidewall and Tandem are my favorite places in TR.” Furman University, the perfect place for a picnic photo shoot, is also nearby. Cherrydale, an area full of places to eat and shop, is also around a five-minute drive away from the trail. Olive Garden, Stax’s, and Southern Culture are great places to go as opposed to somewhere downtown. The movie theater is also in the area and there are always new films being released.
For those who still want to shop and eat without going downtown, Woodruff Road is a good place to go. While it can be super busy during rush hour, the places to go are endless. Restaurants range from something as simple as Chick-fil-A to something as high-end as Firebirds Wood Fired Grill. Shopping ranges from Target to Charming Charlies, to Cabela’s.
Downtown Greenville is a great place to go, but other areas offer the same things, minus the long waits and hard to find parking. For those looking for something to do, Greenville will surely not disappoint.
