Greenville County deputies are currently searching for two suspects responsible for the recent car break-ins that have caused a neighborhood to be on high alert for the two weeks. Half Mile Lake, a nearby quiet subdivision, fell victim to at least 15 unwelcome vehicle breaches this past Monday. The two masked individuals wore bandanas to hide their identities and stole valuables from residents’ vehicles on various streets of the neighborhood, leaving doors unlocked and other obvious signs of break-ins. No weapons or any dangerous firearms were stolen in the spree of theft. Deputies are asking residents of Half Mile Lake and other nearby establishments to inventory the items in their vehicles with the probability of their still being unreported break-ins that occurred. An entire vehicle was stolen by the suspects but was later recovered after the disguised car thieves crashed into multiple other cars that were found with unlocked doors. A confrontation around 4:30 am Tuesday morning between a neighborhood resident and the suspects led the two to flee on foot and fire multiple gunshots at the victim. No one was injured.

Deputies are asking for all residents with any home protection systems to check footage from the 15th of October. Esdras Williams, a Half Mile Lake resident and 9th-grade student at  Wade Hampton high school, has lived in the area most of his life. He stated, “It’s normally calm and everyone knows everybody pretty much.” Deputies released screen capture images taken from residents home protection cameras and ask if anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 864-23-CRIME or provide information on the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office app.
