In the spirit of Halloween, I decided to create mummy pretzel rods. Mummy pretzel rods are delicious snacks of the season that are basically pretzel rods covered in chocolate. They can be made with many designs. This may look like an easy task to complete, but after attempting it myself I can definitely share that the looks were deceiving, but this was due to lack of proper instructions. So now I am willing to share what I discovered to make this process easier and less time-consuming.

This project will require:

  • Pretzel rods
  • Milk/dark chocolate
  • White chocolate
  • Water
  • Stove/heating device
  • Mason jar
  • Large wooden spoon
  • Aluminum foil
  • Syringe

First, lay out aluminum foil in order to have an area to place the chocolate covered pretzel rods as they dry. After this has been done, the pretzel rods can be put to the side. Melt down chocolate chips on the stove or with a heating device of choice. An easy way to melt the chocolate is placing a mason jar of the chocolate chips inside of a pot of water on the stove. This will ensure that the chocolate does not burn. After placing the mason jar in the heated water you will place your desired amount of chocolate (white, dark, or milk) inside and stir continuously with a wooden spoon until it is fully melted and smooth. Once the chocolate is prepared, pick up the mason jar carefully with a towel and stir the pretzel rod within it. Make sure the chocolate covers at least half of the pretzel then place it on the aluminum foil and repeat. When the chocolate dries, fill a syringe with white chocolate and create a string of that white chocolate on top of the first layer of chocolate. While creating this string of white chocolate, try to mimic the wraps on a mummy, but still make sure that the first layer stays somewhat visible. After all of that has dried, clean out the white chocolate and fill the syringe with dark/milk chocolate to create two eyes. At last, the mummy pretzel rods are ready to share (or not to share). These tasty snacks will surely bring lots of joy as expressed by junior Faith Cassas saying “They were amazing!” Now that the instructions are laid out, try to make these mummy pretzels at home. They are sure to prepare for all of the Halloween excitement.
