After the smashing hit that was the movie adaptation of the Harry Potter series, fans were patiently waiting for more of the wizarding world, whether in the form of books or movies. For years, there were rumors of a prequel series coming about Harry’s parents, but that was not the case. In 2016 the call was finally answered with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, five years after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. This year, the sequel to a prequel is coming with Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. For those reading that are not Harry Potter fans, the Fantastic Beasts series is set up to be a prequel to the Harry Potter franchise during the early to mid-twentieth century following Newt Scamander, author of the book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, mentioned in the third Harry Potter installment, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, by Neville Longbottom. The upcoming sequel follows the theme of explaining previously mentioned events, this time being the notorious wizard criminal Gellert Grindelwald, who will be played by Johnny Depp, and introduces a younger Albus Dumbledore played by Jude Law and tells his story as well. The main four characters from the first movie Newt Scamander, Propentis Goldstein, Jacob Kowalski, and Queenie Goldstein are all returning for round two on November 16th later this month. There are also talks of there being a third film in the series coming, but no information that has been confirmed by Warner Brothers, cast members, or writers at this time.
