Looking to spice up a classic pecan pie? If so, look no further than this scrumptious chocolate pecan slab pie recipe, that taste better than the regular old circular pecan pie. This is the perfect dessert to make and to enjoy with friends, family, especially for different holidays or big group occasions.

The ingredients for this yummy sweet are:

1 pkg. (250 g) Philadelphia Brick Cream Cheese, softened

1 cup butter, softened

3 cups flour

1 pkg. (225 g) Baker’s Semi-Sweet Chocolate, chopped

1-1/2 cups light corn syrup

1-1/2 cups packed brown sugar

4 eggs, beaten

1-1/2 tsp. Vanilla

2 cups pecan halves

Many of the ingredients on this list can be found in most homes; so I only spent $20 on semi-sweet chocolate, light corn syrup, and pecan halves. To start, use a mixer to process cream cheese, butter, and flour until mixture pulls away from the side of the container. Shape dough into ball; wrap in plastic wrap. Flatten slightly and refrigerate for 1 hour. When the dough is done, Spray 15x10x1-inch rimmed tart pan with removable bottom with cooking spray. (Or, use parchment-lined 15x10x1-inch jelly roll pan.) Unwrap dough; press onto bottom of prepared pan. Then, place chocolate in a large microwaveable bowl and add corn syrup. Microwave on HIGH 1 min.; stir until chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is well blended. Add sugar, eggs, and vanilla; mix well. Stir in nuts. Pour over crust; spread to evenly cover the bottom of crust. Almost done, be sure to bake at 425ºF for 15 min and reduce oven temperature to 350ºF, then bake an additional 15 to 20 min. or until chocolate topping is firm around the edges but still slightly soft in the center.

I shared this scrumptious dessert with sophomore Alden Anders, and she agreed that this was a great change to the regular simple pecan pie. Alden said, “I liked the chocolate pecan slab pie because it had just the right amount of sweetness to it. Another aspect that made it so tasty was, it’s gooey and yummy inside. This was an awesome recipe!” Though they turned out well, there were a few things that made the pie take longer than expected. The dough was really difficult to make I had to add more butter to make it like an actual dough, and I had to bake them longer because it still was not done when the final timer went off. This pie, however, was a fun twist to the regular pecan pie and it was delicious to eat, and I absolutely plan on making them again.
