High school is a time in which all students are trying to figure out who they are and what they want to do with their life. For some, it comes easier than for others. Olivia Carlisle is a junior and she already has a good sense of what she wants to do. On January 11th, Carlisle released her first single, “U Care.” After just twelve days, her song has already surpassed 2,000 streams on Spotify, and it is rapidly growing more and more popular, especially with the support of her friends and family.

Pulling from her past experience in a toxic relationship, Carlisle began to write “U Care”  to share what she went through. She said, “I have been writing for a very long time, but I had never decided to do anything with it.” After deciding that this is what she would like to do with her life, Carlisle decided to release “U Care.” Junior Lyndall Harris helped photograph Carlisle for the cover of her single. After the song was finished and ready to be released, she promoted her song on social media. Many students from Wade Hampton began to share their endless support by reposting her song and with the hope of spreading the word about it. Carlisle said the support has been overwhelming, adding, “I never expected much to happen with it but now I have radio stations interested in playing it, which is unreal.” Carlisle’s work has obviously paid off, and she wants to continue on this path.

Now that she has gotten started, Carlisle has no plans to stop producing music. “U Care” is set to have a music video released soon, she plans to release another single in February which will be followed by a full album. To support a fellow Wade Hampton student, listen to “U Care” on Spotify, Apple Music, or iTunes.
