The year is 2019, memes rule the internet from eggs to Scooby-Doo characters. The European Union (EU) wants to change all that. The EU has just announced article thirteen. For those who are unaware, article thirteen is a meme makers kryptonite. Article thirteen requires web giants to automatically filter copy written content. This does not sound so bad right? Wrong, this means that any songs, videos, pictures, etc. that have a copyright on them will be filtered and blocked. Considering that ninety-nine percent of content used in modern memes are copywritten, this may be the end of the meme era in Europe, but not here in the freedom states where we can post the memes we please. Senior and meme lover Taylor Wright had the following to say about the possible meme ban, “The EU banning memes? As a fellow meme lord I must say preposterous boast, but alas. This is even worse than the tide pods era, and to say the least, I would rather spend the rest of my life in communist Russia with commie memes than associate with a country who cannot appreciate the delicacy of the work of art that is a meme. In conclusion, it do not be like that sometimes.” When the kids growing up around the world do not have classic cartoons, the memes are the main way of entertainment, and those countries that are under article thirteen are having this stripped away.
